EQUUS

Nowadays, people are so immersed in the Internet and electronic devices that they gradually neglect the buildings and Spaces around them. It is hoped that this immersive drama will inspire the audience to focus on the stories, characters and emotional relationships in the space and realize that the world is not only a distant place in the Internet, but also the people and things around them.

 

I chose the story of Equus and designed it in a hospital in rural China, hoping to raise social awareness of minority groups. In China in the 1980s and 1990s, homosexuality and addiction to electronic devices were both considered diseases in public opinion.

Special hospitals were created for this purpose. According to the standard of the public, people take extraordinary measures to turn the so-called "patients" into "normal people", ignoring individual differences, resulting in tragedy.

 

The story will have a fixed opening: the judge reads Alan's trial and introduces the patient who will now be treated by Dr. Dysart, giving viewers the status of a student nurse. The audience will then explore different scenes in the space themselves, so as to understand the whole process of time.
